Shri. Lokesh Chandra (IAS) is presently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Hon. Chief Minister, Government of Maharashtra, having taken over the charge on 1st April 2026, while continuing to hold the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
Prior to his present assignment, Shri. Lokesh Chandra joined MSEDCL as its Chairman and Managing Director on 2nd June, 2023, after serving as the General Manager of BEST Undertaking, Mumbai. During his tenure at MSEDCL and BEST, Shri. Lokesh Chandra spearheaded transformative reforms in the power distribution sector, advancing renewable energy integration, operational efficiency, technological innovation, consumercentric governance, and infrastructure modernization.
A 1993-batch IAS officer, Shri. Lokesh Chandra holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and an M.Tech. (Structures) from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Over the course of his distinguished administrative career, Shri. Lokesh Chandra has held several key leadership positions, including Vice Chairman and Managing Director, CIDCO; Commissioner, Nagpur Municipal Corporation; and Collector of Nagpur, Bhandara, and Gondia districts. Shri. Lokesh Chandra also served as President of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT).
From 2008 to 2015, Shri. Lokesh Chandra served with the Government of India, holding the positions of Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, and Director, Ministry of Power.
